Develop an interesting hobby that’s inexpensive and a meaningful way to combat both stress and boredom. You will immerse yourself in and be engrossed by the fascinating behavior birds exhibit. Some of the things you will learn from this class are how to recognize birds by sight, sound and flight; and you will learn how to use field guides to identify birds by body size, beak size, feathers and coloring. Students will discuss the natural history of birds in eastern Idaho, where to look for specific birds in our region and the best time of day or night to spot particular species. Also included in the curriculum will be information concerning the correct binoculars, spotting scopes and other equipment needed to spot birds. Bring your questions and any other topics concerning bird watching you may want to discuss and come prepared for an enlightening introduction to or enhanced experience identifying, spotting and observing the unique and amazing birds that are located in eastern Idaho. Cost of the handouts is included in the course fee. Mr. Saurey is a bird-watching enthusiast in the upper valley and has spent the last ten years studying birds and how they live.
