Students will learn:
- How to build, maintain, and safely extinguish outdoor cooking fires using both wood and charcoal
- How to control and adjust heat levels by choosing appropriate fuel types and creating effective heat zones
- How to use core outdoor cooking techniques such as grilling, smoking, and Dutch oven cooking to prepare flavorful meals.
- How to apply essential food safety and fire safety practices in an outdoor environment.
- How to cook responsibly in nature by following “leave no trace” principles throughout the process.
