Course Description:(initial)
Hands-On: The course schedule allows for 4 hours of Hands-on training. All participants will be evaluated and must successfully demonstrate competency as part of the hands-on activities.
Instruction: Participants will receive manuals and reference materials used in the instructional phase of the course. Instruction will include:

Potential health effects related to asbestos exposure

Function / qualification and role of inspector

Legal / liabilities / defenses

Understanding building systems

Public / employee / building occupant relations
-
Pre-inspection planning and review of previous records

Inspecting for friable and non-friable ACM and assessing the condition of friable ACM

Bulk sampling / documentation of asbestos

Inspector respirator and personal protective equipment

Record keeping and writing the inspection

Relevant federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, procedures, and standards

Field Trip
Evaluation: Participants will be required to score 70% or better on a written examination which contains 50 questions, and successfully demonstrate competency in each of the hands-on areas of the course to receive a completion certificate.
